Abstract

Tourism has been one of the hardest hit industries by the outbreak of Covid-19 and it has resulted in millions of jobs losses and huge GDP loss all over the world and the numbers are expected to increase. Because of the unexpected spread of virus governments are telling people not to travel and as a result, the income from the tourism sector which contributed 10.3% of global GDP last year is decreasing and the more the restrictions and lockdowns continue, the more travel and tourism market loses its revenue. All the industries including food and drink industry, accommodation industry and airlines are seeing huge losses that it takes much effort and time to recover. The world, as soon as possible, must stand together to recover the tourism industry and its contribution to world economy. So, the article examines the impacts of pandemic on world tourism industry and alongside some possible and the most effective strategies for its recovery.
